Seattle Home Prices Up, Inventory 20% Lower Than Last Year

While the most recent Case-Shiller numbers reflect that area home prices fell in November, Redfin released their latest housing market tracker numbers to show that Seattle home sales were up 5.7% in December and home prices were up 13.6% year over year in January. According to Redfin, record-setting homebuyer demand and increased interest from first-time buyers helped drive the continued growth. Of course, helping matters is the fact that available homes for sale are down 19.4% from this time 2014.

Citing a specific example Redfin agent Klaus Gosma says that more than 130 people visited this $350,000 3-BR townhouse in Leschi during its open houses over the weekend. "I have never seen so much traffic at an open house," says Gosma "The big draw for buyers was the home's affordable price point." The home has already gone pending due to the overwhelming interest.
