Just in case you thought perhaps Zumper's data that said Seattle was the 8th-most expensive major city in America to rent in, Zillow confirmed it as well in their breakdown of who paid the most rent across the country in 2014. Seattle came in 8th once again, even taking into account the metro area outside of the city. According to them, the average monthly rent in 2014 in the region was $1,154/month, just behind Boston and just ahead of Miami. Digging the knife a little further, Zillow also noted that the $7.7 billion Seattleites paid in rent in 2014 was up 8.6% from 2013. That percentage trails only San Francisco, San Jose and Denver in terms of growth.
