Cornerspotted: 20th Ave NE and NE 65th Street

Written by Sarah Anne Lloyd

Yesterday, we asked you to guess the location of a northerly intersection, pictured in 1950. Reader Andrew was the first at the buzzer, although commenters WB and Fnarf also got it: 20th Ave NE and NE 65th St in Ravenna.

Before image: Seattle Municipal Archives In the present day, that corner that promised tasty treats is now home to some tasty reads. Third Place Books now operates out of the one-story building, along with its cafe, Vios, and Third Place Pub in the basement (where us book-lovin' drunks belong, I suppose).

The northwest corner is not quite as lovingly restored; however, it is lovingly occupied. Gasoline Alley Antiques has called that building home for over four decades — since 1974.
