Philanthropic Owners Asking $10M For Laurelhurst Mansion

The listing for six-bedroom, 5.25-bath, 9,672 square-foot mansion at 4939 NE Laurelcrest Lane is pretty skimpy on photos. That probably has something to do with the $10.4M price tag. Let's face it, if you're in the market at that price in Seattle, your not going to waste your time checking out photos of the foyer online. Another reason might be who the sellers are, Richard & Nancy Alvord. Richard's parents, Ellsworth "Buster" & Nancy Alvord are Seattle medical and philanthropic legends. In fact, philanthropy is a family affair as the Alvords were named Outstanding Philanthropic Family of the Year in 1995. One thing they're not willing to give away is this huge estate that comes with 180 feet of prime Lake Washington waterfront, two docks, indoor spa, gazebo and six total parking spots. If you've got that kind of scratch, you can probably afford the tax bill too. It comes out to about $68K/year. If you live here you'll end up giving back too, whether you want to or not.
