Tonight, two South Seattle affordable housing developments that will sit side-by-side go before the design review board for early design guidance. Both projects are part of the Rainier Court IV development, a collection of affordable housing and senior living residences bounded by 34th & 35th Ave S at Spokane & Charleston streets in Rainier Valley. The first project is a four-story mixed-user at 3616 34th Ave S that will contain 73 residential units and ground-level retail. 34 surface-level parking spots will also be included. Across the way at 3603 35th Ave S would be three, two-story townhouse buildings that include 20 units and 29 parking spaces. A pedestrian promenade will run through the middle of both sections. This project joins the nearby previous stages, Rainier Court I (senior housing building), Rainier Court II (affordable family housing) and Rainier Court III (apartments & townhouses).
