VITAL UPDATES -- Cat cafe mania is officially here. Well, almost: Seattle Meowtropolitan, the city's first cat cafe, is set to open in Wallingford around the last week of October. Owner Matt Lai hasn't announced an address yet; check back in with Eater for updates as the historic day draws closer.

EATER INSIDE -- The newest addition to the McMenamins empire opens today in Bothell, and it sure is a beauty. Once an actual school, McMenamins Anderson School is now a 5-acre-wide, 78,000-square-foot constellation of bars, restaurants, event spaces, and lodging (converted from classrooms). There's even a movie theater and heated saltwater pool that's free to overnight guests and available for a fee to others. Eater has the inside look.

COMING ATTRACTIONS -- JarrBar, the latest by Bryan Jarr (owner of the former Madison Park Conservatory), is set to open within weeks. The menu is based on favorites from a trip to Spain and Portugal that Jarr took last year, focused especially on preserved seafood and Spanish meats and cheeses. The bar will have wines from Spain, Portugal, and elsewhere; Spanish Estrella Damm beer on draft, another rotating tap, and more brews in bottles; cocktails with infusions; sangria; and beyond.
