One of Seattle's most beloved holiday traditions ryas returned with the Sheraton Seattle Hotel's 23rd Annual Gingerbread Village. This year they've made a very savvy decision to make the theme "May The Holidays Be With You," inspired by Star Wars. The Sheraton Seattle's staff donates more than 1,000 volunteer hours for this year's event and the gingerbread displays use roughly 500 pounds of dough, 600 pounds of sugar, 180 pounds of egg whites, 160 pounds of rice cereal treats, four gallons of molasses, and hundreds of pounds of candy to create the displays. Featured architects include CallisonRTKL & Hargis, Skanska, Bailly & Bailly, 4D Architects, Master Builders/Gelotte Hommas, and MG2. Over the past two decades, the Gingerbread Village has raised more than $756,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and they'll continue to do so this year. Head over to the Sheraton's site to find out more or go see the displays in person for yourself. They'll be in the lobby through January 3, 2016.
