Climb Aboard Tiny 'Captain's Quarters' For Just $330K

New, 1 comment

It's a houseboat, actually a housebarge. It's a tiny house, but not the tiniest. They call it the "Captain's Quarters", but it looks more like the Captain's Caboose. It really is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 358 square foot house that happens to be on a barge that happens to be floating on Lake Union. They're asking for $330,000 (plus dues of $473/month.) It also happens to be making a lot out of a little. The custom carved wood door, the barrel ceilings, the ladder to the loft that is built into the bookcases, are all evidence of knowing how to work make a small space livable and enjoyable. Then, there are little elements of style, like the flying turtle ceiling lamp. (Any Terry Pratchett fans out there?) Finally, there's the location, on Lake Union, beside Gas Works Park and the Burke-Gilman Trail. A paddle gets you onto the lake and multi-million dollar views, and a bike ride is far cheaper than paying for parking downtown. At that price, maybe someone will buy it, wrap a bow around it, and get it delivered as a New Years' present.
