King County Among Nation's Most Profitable Home-Selling Spots in October

According to a new report by RealtyTrac (via PSBJ), homeowners who sold their home in King County this past October saw an average 48 percent gain over their original purchase price. Of the 127 counties included in their survey, that puts King at No. 7 overall in the nation. On average, King County sellers saw a profit of $136,082 during the month, which is certainly skewed by luxury home sales on the Eastside (Hi, Clyde Hill), but still fairly ridiculous. It comes as no surprise to anyone in the market that home prices were up ten percent from the previous year in October. King County finished behind four California counties (Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Bernadino) and one Oregon county (Multnomah).
