New Tower Could Shade the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Building

If New York firm Douglaston Development gets their way, they'll have a 50-story hotel, residential & retail tower to call their own at southwest corner of Fifth Avenue and Virginia Street. This potential tower would be right next door to the 30-story Escala, which is about to get a whole lot of attention as the main setting for the upcoming film 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' The proposed tower at 1933 Fifth Ave. is said to call for 360 residential units, 155 hotel rooms and 200 parking spaces. Icon Grill currently calls the potential complex space home, no word on how this might affect them.
