THE SHUTTER -- In a wave of closing news, Little Uncle announced they're closing the Pioneer Square location. Proprietors Wiley Frank and Poncharee Kounpungchart want to concentrate on their smaller Madison Street window location.
MEALS ON WHEELS -- Full Tilt Ice Cream is expanding into the food truck business. The company plans to launch The Luchador Taco Co., which will hit streets later next month. The all-vegan menu on the truck will include tacos, tortas, and nachos, using faux-meat items like Field Roast and plenty of veggies. Apparently the truck is planning to avoid taco-heavy White Center, Full Tilt's home base.
THE SHUTTER -- In more heartbreaking news, South Lake Union's Shanik is set to close March 21. Meeru Dhalwala opened the Indian restaurant in 2012 with much fanfare following 20 years at her husband's namesake restaurant, Vij's, in Vancouver -- which Dhalwala co-owns. Shanik hoped to ride the wild success of Vij's, but it seems ultimately it could not sustain a customer base.
