As we found out yesterday, Edith Macefield's Ballard house, made famous by the story (and giant retail complex) surrounding it, is going up for auction. Checking out the photos on the Facebook page dedicated to the home, it's clear that there isn't much else anyone can do with the building, which has fallen into disrepair. The most recent owners had big plans to elevate the house two stories and turn it into a preserved spot. With plans for a second Ballard Blocks retail center across the street, that negated the potential views and impact. So even if the home is restored by it's new owners, it'll remain tucked away in it's nook forever.
