Welcome to Tiny Homes, an idea that is more popular with minimalists than with neighborhood associations and zoning boards. We'll point out the fun parts. You'll have to check out the logistics and legalities - but this one's been around a while, from back when tiny was normal.
It isn't waterfront, but it is certainly close enough. Just a bit back from the beach along Alki sits a 660 square foot cottage that's asking $439,950. That sort of space means 2 bedrooms and 1 bath are about all that will fit; but that fits all the essentials plus a bit. Besides, it's Alki, there's more stuff to outside than in. The house is a bit dated. There was a remodeling in 1985, which brought it forward 44 years, but 30 years later it may be due again. Maybe it all works. Maybe you'll reuse rather than recycle. If you're moving into 660 square feet you're already reducing and decluttering. If you do decide for the usual replacement of the appliances, remember to take a look at the wood stove, too. The covered decks may be good places to watch the world go by, including the new construction. Some of those neighbors are tall and close. But, that's West Seattle, a popular place where you can still get an entire house with a view for less than a half million dollars.
