Cornerspotted: Greenwood Ave N and N 103rd Street

Written by Sarah Anne Lloyd

Yesterday, we asked you to guess of a garage in North Seattle. Nobody got this one, although reader Kimberly: Greenwood Ave N and N 103rd St.

Images: Seattle Municipal Archives, GoogleMaps That garage has gained a little office area since 1960, but it's the same one. It's currently the hole of No. 1 Japanese Auto Repair. 55 years ago, you could follow the sign to 102 Tavern; that building would stay a bar until its sad, fiery demise in September 2000. By that time, it had become the Mad Dog Tavern.

While we're focused on a slow-to-change corner, the surrounding intersection is full of newer developments. The most recent, located across Greenwood, is called Leilani on Greenwood -- due to being on Greenwood and, a little more morbidly, sitting where Leilani Lanes used to be.
