Alki Homestead Building Sold, New Owner Plans Renovations

The Alki Homestead (a.k.a. Fir Lodge) isn't just historic, it's also iconic thanks to the sign up top. Following a huge restoration, the 111-year-old city landmark hit the open market in December 2013 asking $1.85M. Friday, it sold to Dennis Schilling for $1.25M. With that discounted price comes plans to renovate the space further. Schilling said Saturday that his plan "would be to get it rehabilitated and then lease it out to somebody that would want to use that space, hopefully for a restaurant." There's no timeline yet for the project and it's completion but it looks like the historic log house is in good hands.
