New Seasons Coming to Mercer Island, Metropolitan Breaking Ground in Sammamish

New, 1 comment

One of the hottest real estate properties to hit the market recently on Mercer Island was literally a market: the old Albertson's at 2755 77th Ave. S.E., which left a big gap in the island's grocery marketshare. After an intense process that saw plenty of suitors, it was Portland-based New Seasons Market came out as the winner and plans to open in Fall 2016. It's their first store in the Seattle area and they've enlisted LRS Architects to redesign the space for them. President and CEO Wendy Collie said in a release that "we look forward to making our Mercer Island store a welcoming, neighborhood gathering spot where people connect over delicious, quality food, get to know our wonderful staff and build community together."

One of the other chains that had been looking into the space was Metropolitan Market. Even though they didn't get this spot, the Seattle-based grocer announced they are breaking ground on a new store in Sammamish. Located at The Village at Sammamish Town Center, it's their seventh store and is slated to open in early 2017.
