Cornerspotted: Batter Up at West Seattle's Hiawatha Playfield

Last week, we asked you to guess where this baseball diamond pictured in 1915 is located. We saw a guess that it was the field near Chief Sealth High School, which ws close. But it's actually Hiawatha Playfield, located across from West Seattle High School.

Images: Seattle Municipal Archives, Seattle.gov Dedicated in 1911, the original design (pictured) was created by The Olmsted Brothers, though it was altered in 1932 when the demand for a longer running track caused its relocation from the east side of the center to the west and a redesign of the eastern half of the playfield.
