Check Out Designs For the 45-Story 5th & Virginia Tower

If and when it's built, Douglaston Development's 5th & Virginia tower could throw some series shade at neighboring Escala, the home of Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian Grey. The design review board will get a chance to see just how their 45-story tower will rise when they provide early design guidance tonight. Located at 1933 Fifth Ave., the planned structure will include 394 apartments, 151 hotel rooms and 326 parking spaces. Plans offer up three designs by Perkins + Will with the "Jewel" concept being the preferred look. This option features jutted-out look at the top and bottom with the middle section setback in order to create more space between it and Escala. Renderings also showcase room on the lower levels for retail space. The block is gonna get pretty crowded as Stanford Hotels also has a 50-story tower planned for the other part of the property.
