Settle Into a Tiny Port Townsend Beach Cottage for $199K

New, 1 comment

Welcome to Tiny Homes, an idea that is more popular with minimalists than with neighborhood associations and zoning boards. We'll point out the fun parts. You'll have to check out the logistics and legalities - This one isn't on wheels, but maybe it should be on floats .

It hasn't been washed away, yet. That must be some proof that this 1948 beach cabin found just the right place to be waterfront without being water-soaked. It is certainly positioned well enough to have water north, west, and south of it because it sits on Beckett Point in Discovery Bay, outside Port Townsend. Get out the tape measure and prove that there isn't much to the house, at least by the numbers. There's 1 bedroom and 0.1 baths, which is just another way of saying it's a studio. It also has about as much total floor space as some master suites: 376 square feet. What it has is location and price. Waterfront for only $199,000; and that's chopped from $250,000. You know it is a real beach cabin when the garage is designed to hold either a car or act as a boathouse, and the boat is more likely. There isn't much to the lot either, at only 1,742 square feet; but if you're buying it to enjoy the view, not be tied up with chores, and maybe spend some time on and by the water, it may be just right.
