Seattle has seen a boom in bike lanes around town and SDOT has used many different tactics to make them stand out as well as protect cyclists. In Capitol Hill, their usage of 21 curvy blue bollards along Broadway has been almost-universally hated since being installed in 2014. Not only were the pieces often defective, falling over and making it harder to get around, but they also looked like giant Smurf turds. Apparently the complaints finally kickstarted something and CHS reports that Broadway has been de-turded without much fanfare or warning. A few bollards remain south of Pine but the rest are "gone for good." Expect to see white posts replace them between E Pine and E Howell streets.
