Cornerspotted: Shellubrication Gives Way to a Strip Mall

Yesterday, we asked you to guess where this 1949 Shell Station/McDonald's was located. A tough one because it lacked a lot of natural markers, we'll just give you guys the answer: NE 35th and 75th Street in Wedgwood.

Image: Seattle Municipal Archives Nowadays this intersection is your typical suburban Seattle junction. There's a Safeway on one corner. A strip mall on the other. Banks and restaurants up and down the road. Gone are the days when you found everything you needed in a hybrid Shell station/McDonald's. And there's certainly no place left to go to for "Shellubrication."
