What $400,000 buys you right now around Seattle

See what you can get, from West Seattle to Capitol Hill

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, where we scour Seattle's real estate listings to see what your budget will get you across the city. Today we decided to take a look at homes and condos in the the $400,000 range around the city. You tell us which one you'd buy.

Let’s start in Belltown where there’s a 608 square-foot 1-BR in The Ellington for $413K. This fifth-floor unit includes nine-foot ceilings, fresh paint, and a master bedroom with a sizable walk-in. The building offers some fancy amenities, including 24-hour concierge, fitness center with hot tub and secured parking. Right around the corner from Olympic Sculpture Park as well.

Next let’s head to West Seattle where you can find a 3-BR house at 9264 23rd Avenue SW for $399K in Westwood. This 1947 remodel has a brand-new roof, windows, and flooring as well as new appliances. The sizable fenced backyard is a nice space for kids or entertaining. Very residential neighborhood but not too far from parks and retail.

Now we go to West Queen Anne where Pierre Marquis Condos is offering a 1,042 square-foot 2-BR unit for $399K. Lots of new and refurbished features inside, including refinished oak floors and new lighting fixtures. The entire building also had some upgrades and improvements. Right on the edge of Interbay, it’s an easy commute to Ballard or Downtown.

On to Highland Park where there’s a 1,004 square-foot 3-BR home at 9008 15th Avenue SW asking $399K. Located on a 6,000 square-foot lot, this remodeled home has a new roof and windows as well as a refinished hardwood floor. Very modern, clean design throughout. Out back, a classic fenced yard. The area is very residential.

Finally we end up in Capitol Hill where you can get a 604 square-foot condo in the remodeled Belmont Building for $399K. This top-floor 1-BR features updated electric and plumbing, Brazilian hardwood floors, and vaulted ceilings. The large bedroom gives you a nice view of the backyard. Location-wise, you’re right in the middle of the Boren-Madison-Broadway triangle.
