Seattle now No. 8 in nation with $1,830 median rent

We just keep on climbing

Zumper

Earlier this week we found out Seattle is officially the hottest housing market in the nation. Now we find out that rents continue moving in the same direction and possibly with the same speed.

Zumper has released their National Rent Report for December and they’ve got Seattle up to No. 8 overall in terms of median rent among major U.S. cities. The city had just reclaimed it’s spot in the top ten and now we’re moving upward, surpassing Miami and Chicago.

Seattle’s median one-bedroom rent of $1,830 is up 0.5 percent from last month and up 10.9 percent from this time last year on Zumper’s report. Two-bedroom median rent actually dropped 0.8 percent from last month to $2,490, though it’s still up 10.7 percent year-over-year.

We’ve still got a ways to go to catch Los Angeles at No. 7 but if Seattle has proven anything in the last couple years, it’s that prices around here can always keep rising.
