Alright you freeloaders, it's almost time to actually start paying for the First Hill Streetcar. The long-awaited public transit option has been operating for free since it's soft launch a few weeks back. Starting February 16, however, riders will have to either buy a ticket or use an ORCA card for trips to Pioneer Square, Capitol Hill, First Hill, Central District, and International District. ORCA-paid rides will be transferrable between buses and light rail as well within a two-hour window. So if you haven't tried out the streetcar yet, this weekend is your last chance to do so for free. While you're doing so, make a stop at 8th Avenue S and S King Street on Saturday between 9:30-11 a.m. for a photo op with the Chinatown-Japantown-Little Saigon streetcar (pictured) and a Lunar New Year Festival celebration at Hing Hay Park.
