Vitamilk Taking Back Green Lake One Mixed-User at a Time

Image: Studio216

There was a time when Vitamilk Dairy ran things in Green Lake. Okay, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but the dairy producer called the Seattle neighborhood home for six decades before shuttering in 2003. Wallace Properties ended up working with the former owners to turn one of their former spaces into the 297-unit Green Lake Village complex. Now, both parties are going to do the same for the other former Vitamilk spot at at 419 N.E. 71st Street. Plans call for 130 apartments, 106 underground parking spots and a 14,600-square-foot retail space that Bartell Drugs has already agreed to fill. Building amenities will include a rooftop deck, bike maintenance area and features for pets. The yet-unnamed bulding, designed by Baylis Architects, will seek LEED silver certification and will include market-rate apartments.
