Union Bay Place Mixed-Use Complex Plans Ideal For Bike Commuters

A five-story mixed-use project close to University Village could make for a nice living spot for cyclists.

ICP Capital and Encore Architects will bring their plans for a five-story mixed user near University Village before the design review board this evening for design guidance. In what they hope will help expand the appeal of U Village out onto Union Bay Place, they want to construct a complex with 61 residences, 115 parking stalls, and 2,500 square-feet of commercial space.

The building would be comprised of three wood frame levels over a two story, semi-below-grade concrete podium. The first level would be commercial and the second-through fifth levels would house the residences while the third story would host a courtyard with a mix of private patios and shared space. The project would make for a nice living spot for bike commuters as it's bounded to the North by the Burke Gilman Trail and is close to UW, U-Village and wherever else the trail takes you.
