Here Comes a 118-Unit Residential Complex For Hillman City

New, 6 comments

A few years back, the Seattle Weekly referred to Hillman City as Seattle's best up & coming neighborhood. We've seen a few interesting projects pop up there since but it looks like developers are finally starting to turn their gaze from Columbia City to its South Seattle neighbor. Developers Murray Kahn and Scott Shapiro as well as architect S+H Works will present their plans for a six-story residential complex at 5201 Rainier Avenue S. to the design review board this evening for early guidance. Those plans call for approximately 121 residential units, three live/work units, 1,888 sq. ft. of commercial space and 55 parking spaces. The preferred design would include a separate four-townhouse building with an open courtyard for all residents between the two structures. The live/work units and commercial space would face out onto Rainier Avenue for maximum visibility. The site, which is currently a used car lot, will need to be rezoned to allow for a 65-foot structure.
