Cornerspotted: Colonial Theatre Gives Way to Century Square

New, 1 comment

Yesterday's Cornerspotter asked you figure out what's currently going on at the spot of the Colonial Theatre. Did you guess correctly?

Yesterday we asked you to guess where in Seattle the old Colonial Theatre called home. Commenter TF206 gets the credit with an eagle eye:

That’s obviously the Bon Marché/Macy’s building to the right so the theatre would have been where Century Square is now, on 4th Ave downtown.

That's correct! Built in 1914, the Colonial made it into the 1960's before it was torn down and replaced by what is now Century Square and the surrounding retails shops that run along 4th Avenue. And as pointed out, that Bon Marché is now Macy's.
