We got a look at Stonebridge Companies' Denny Triangle hotel plans back in 2014. Now we finally know which hotel is going to fill them.
Stonebridge Companies announced Thursday that it has selected Mortenson Construction to build a Residence Inn by Marriott at 924 Howell Street. Mortenson recently broke ground on the 302-room, 15-story hotel, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2017.
It's pretty prime location for a new hotel in Seattle. Surrounded on all sides by new office towers, including Amazon's ever-expanding campus, and there won't be a shortage of guests looking for a place to stay nearby. Not to mention that Seattle simply needs more hotel rooms. Last year, Downtown Seattle’s hotel occupancy rate stood at 93.5 percent per a report, higher than the downtowns of Vancouver, B.C., San Francisco and Bellevue.
Along with the usual hotel amenities, the building will also include retail at the corner of Howell and Terry and parking both below grade.
The project team includes design architect Weber Thompson, architect of record Johnson Braund, which designed the Hill7 Hilton Garden Inn, and Denver-based interior design company Design Force.
