Rainier Court IV Affordable Housing Development Looks For Approval

The Rainier Court IV development goes before the design review board Tuesday night

Rainier Court Associates and Johnson Braund bring their plans for both sides of Rainier Court IV back before the design review board tonight for what they hope is a recommendation to move forward on the affordable housing development.

The development is actually a two-parter. The West side is a four-story mixed-use structure containing 78 apartment units and 5,725 sq. ft. of commercial at street level at 3616 34th Avenue S. The East side consists of three, 2-story townhouse buildings containing a total of 20 residential units at 3603 35th Avenue S. The apartments appear to be mostly one-bedrooms with a handful of two-bedroom units included while the townhouses are all two-bedroom units.

The whole Rainier Court IV project is part of a larger urban mixed-use development, Rainier Court, which also Rainier Court I (senior housing building), Rainier Court II (affordable family housing) and Rainier Court III (apartments & townhouses).

A pedestrian promenade will run through the middle of both sections and the space will also be filled with community amenity areas and landscaping.
