Cornerspotted: 9th & Harrison in South Lake Union

New, 1 comment

Believe it or not, you’re looking at what South Lake Union used to look like

Yesterday we asked you to guess what this Seattle intersection pictured in 1929 was.

TF206 nailed it with a guess of 9th Avenue N. and Harrison Street looking west.

The giveaway is the apartment building on the right side of the pic; it’s still there (surprisingly). Sadly, City Hardware, over what would be the photographer’s left shoulder, is closed and is due to be replaced by a 24-story apartment/retail tower.

And it’s true, City Hardware will soon be a mixed-use tower with over 290 residential units. Time marches on in South Lake Union.
