Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, where we scour Seattle's rental listings to see what your monthly budget will get you across the city. Today we decided to take a look at $1,000/month and find out what, if anything, you can get for that around town. You tell us which lease you'd sign.
We begin at 817 NE 64th Street in Roosevelt where there's a 206 square-foot studio asking $995/month.The ground floor unit is sleek and modern if not somewhat austere. There's a shared rooftop deck and the unit comes with WiFi. There's coin laundry and bike parking onsite as well.
Next is Capitol Hill where Footprint Eleventh offers an oxymoronically-named Large Micro unit for $975/month. The 204 square foot micro-apartment comes furnished with a bed, table, chair, and bookshelf. There is an onsite laundry, common kitchen and convenience space shared amongst residents. You're also just a few blocks from Broadway and Cal Anderson Park.
Now we go to Queen Anne where Montanita Apartments has a 210 square-foot studio available for $995/month. The building and the unit are on the older side but seem to be in good order. You get a kitchen in here but it'd be more apt to call it a stove & fridge in a closet. The bathroom is able to fit a tub and the top floor location gets you some decent sunlight, so there's that.
Let's head up to Olympic Hills where Promenade at the Park has a 479 square foot studio available $1,000/month. That's downright huge compared to the other choices and a lot of that goes into a regular-sized kitchen. This place represents the ultimate trade-off for some. You get some comfort and nice surroundings but you're far removed from the city center.
Finally we return to Capitol Hill to check out the 260 square foot studio at LIV at East John. The kitchen setup is nice and you'll have to get used to having your bed directly across from it. Will certainly make it easy to get a glass of water in the middle of the night. This is place is less than two blocks from the new light rail station, which makes it a pretty solid bet, location-wise.
