What is the best/most accurate pop-cultural depiction of the Seattle area?

New, 4 comments

What is your go-to pop culture depiction of Seattle or the surrounding area? Sleepless in Seattle? Twin Peaks? Singles?

Welcome to Friday Open Threads, wherein we'll pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest, distress, horror, etc. Have something you want discussed? Let us know.

Seattle doesn’t get the Hollywood treatment the way Los Angeles, New York, or even Boston gets, but we’ve had our fair share of silver screen and television screen close-ups.

Sometimes they don’t bother filming here and everyone just assumes that Seattle looks a lot like Vancouver (Thanks The Killing & Fifty Shades of Grey). Other times, however, the city does get to play itself, showcasing our landmarks and daily life to the world (Sleepless in Seattle, Singles, 10 Things I Hate About You).

But which movie or TV show did it best?

We want to hear about these in our latest Friday Open Thread. What is your go-to pop culture depiction of Seattle or the surrounding area? Maybe it’s one of the aforementioned movies or maybe it’s Twin Peaks, which doesn’t take place in Seattle but certainly showcases other parts of Western Washington.

Sound off!
