Climb aboard Seattle houseboat 'Sugar Shack' for $179K

This is a down and dirty, old school houseboat livinig opportunity, straight out of 1946 when the houseboat was built

We've heard from a few people recently that some of the "affordable" Seattle homes we feature on the site aren't all that affordable. We hear you, we can only work with what the market gives us. So if you wanted affordable, we found it for you. It just so happens to be floating in Lake Union and comes in around 200 square feet of living space.

It's the Sugar Shack, a quirky Westlake houseboat that's asking just $179,000.

This is not luxury floating home experience. This is a down and dirty, old school houseboat livinig opportunity, straight out of 1946 when the houseboat was built. It's super-snug but that's what you're paying for. There's still room enough for a full kitchen, table, bed, and seating. There's just enough room for the bathtub but 6-foot-9 potential owners might want to reconsider. Then again, there is a shower with a sunlight that opens so 6-foot-9 potential owners can stay after all.

Outside, you get a few different perch options from which to enjoy the weather and surroundings. Hang out on the mini-patio or on the roof. Totally up to you.
