Carl Haglund’s new Mount Baker project includes 150 apartments

A new proposal for mixed-use project in Mount Baker goes before the board

Columbia City Condos and Mark Travers Architect are bringing their plans for a new mixed-use project in Mount Baker to the design review board for early guidance tonight.

The plan, referred to as Link Mt. Baker Apartments, calls for a seven-story building at 3208 Claremont Avenue S that would include 150 residential units , 6,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, parking for 48 bicycles, and 110 vehicle parking spaces.

The residential units would be a mixture, including 22 studios, 26 one-bedroom units and 98 open one-bedroom units. Plans also call for four live-work units. Other amenities include a second-floor meeting room, exercise rooms on every residential floor, and a street-level patio facing MLK Way. There would also be the requisite sun deck and planted area on the rooftop.

Columbia City Condos is headed by Carl Haglund and If that name sounds familiar, its probably because you’ve heard about the Seattle law passed due to purported shady tactics involving his properties and rent increases. Dubbed the “Carl Hagland Law,” it banned rent increases in Seattle buildings that don't meet basic maintenance requirements per city law.
