An Orcas cabin and yurt for the perfect island lifestyle

It’s a retreat with its own retreat

About a mile-long walk from the Orcas Island ferry landing is a sweet cabin on more than two acres among the trees, a retreat listed at $499,000. But wait: There’s a bonus yurt, for when the cabin life isn’t quite enough for you.

With only one bedroom and one bathroom in 960 square feet, the rooms are relatively expansive. The living room and cherry floors act as a connectors between an impressive and decorative kitchen, plus the green wainscoting wrapped dining area.

The dining area’s theme continues in the kitchen cabinetry, accentuated by the green granite counters. A pot rack, stainless steel sink, and full-size appliances mean some serious cooking can happen here.

A classic bathroom with clawfoot tub also features a luxurious-looking, blue and purple stone and glass tile shower. Golden-colored fixtures, even in the shower, add an opulent touch.

A broad porch encourages sitting outside and enjoying the quiet, or as a place to listen for the ferry’s horn.

The yurt, set slightly away from the cabin, is an incredible bonus retreat, lushly decorated with tapestries and draped fabrics.

The interior of a yurt has a rug in the center of the room and a high, plush bed accented with a partial orange fabric canopy. A dresser sits in the background, and there’s a bench covered in blue cloth at the foot of the bed.

A marvelously indulgent and decadent steam shower lives in its own, more permanent building attached to the yurt. a three-quarter bath dominated by a modern marvel is an interesting juxtaposition to its neighbor.

Not enough of a retreat for you? The hot tub, surrounded by nature, completes the package.
