King County Metro Route 2 travels out of downtown on two sides—to the east and the north—one of the few routes that still does this.
One end of the route exits downtown by the Central Library, cruising uphill through First Hill and skirting the edge of Capitol Hill before heading up Union through the Central Area and Madrona. Its terminus here is at Lake Washington, specifically Madrona Park Beach, letting folks off to take a walk along the shore or a dip in the water.
On the other side, it also heads uphill to Queen Anne, first running through Belltown and lower Queen Anne (or Uptown, if you prefer), past Seattle Center, then climbing Queen Anne Avenue. It sets its course off the main drag once it gets to the top of the hill, spending the rest of its time on Sixth Avenue West, covering many a posh craftsman home with great views. (Also, Targy’s Tavern.)
We’ve found six notable homes for sale along the route.
