A house in Highland Park, a studio in Capitol Hill

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in the Seattle area. We've found six listings within $100 of today's price: One of the lower estimates for median one-bedroom rent in Seattle, $1,330.

Via Craigslist

In Eastlake, this studio in a brick building is small—425 square feet—but it’s full of vintage details like hardwood floors and arched openings. A walk-in closet keeps things from feeling too cramped. It rents for $1,295 a month.

$1,325 will rent you a one-bedroom in Lichton Springs, a block off Aurora and walking distance from Green Lake, with a small den. The 700-square-foot apartment has a no-frills design, but comes with free Wi-Fi, new appliances, and a dishwasher.

In Capitol Hill, $1,300 will rent you a huge 800-square-foot studio in an early-1900s building with a closet big enough to fit a bed. Vintage touches include ice block delivery closets, hardwood floors, and uniquely-shaped archways. No pets are allowed, and listing loudly announces that “IF YOU SMOKE ANYTHING AT ALL, IN ANY MANNER, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS AD,” so while it’s extremely cute, it may not be a good fit for everyone.

$1350 rents you a similar but smaller (just under 500 square feet) vintage studio in Ballard with extensive kitchen cabinetry, a walk-in closet, a dining nook, huge windows, and granite countertops. The building allows pets and includes bike storage.

For a backyard in this price range, head to Highland Park, where this one-bedroom bungalow with a fenced yard is renting for $1,300. It features built-ins, archways, and a basement with a washer and dryer, but has a big catch for an entire house: It doesn’t allow pets.

On First Hill, this studio apartment in a 1920s building has hardwood floors and lots of kitchen space, plus access to a shared central patio with a barbecue. It rents for $1,295 a month.
