This Queen Anne High School condo comes with a little library

Bring out the bookishness

It’s exciting whenever a condo in the Queen Anne High School building—formerly an actual high school—comes on the market, because each one is unique.

This fifth-floor one-bedroom has its own bookish twist: A small corner library with a tall set of built-in bookshelves, complete with a sliding ladder a la Beauty and the Beast.

It also takes full advantage of the 1908 building, built in a position to take advantage of the Palladian windows and original hardwood floors.

Those windows live large under a 14-foot ceiling in the main living area, tall enough to hold a lofted bedroom. It’s accessible by spiral staircase.

Tucked in below the bedroom, a cute kitchen features a breakfast bar. Travel back further to find a small office nook for shutting out all distractions.

For a little recess, the building shares a large roof deck with a crystal-clear view of downtown, the Puget Sound, and the Space Needle.

Throw it all together for an asking price of $450,000, plus $489 a month in HOA dues.
