Brand-new, boxy houseboat ‘Big Time’ listed for $600K

This cozy boat has all the comforts of a home on land

Docked off Westlake Avenue in Lake Union, houseboat Big Time stands out for a few reasons: It’s a brand-new vessel, built in 2018 by Haggard Houseboats. It has a classic Northwest—but still modern—look inside, with wood paneling and exposed beams surrounding an open layout. And it’s supremely livable, with a one-story design that could be mistaken for a condo if it weren’t literally afloat.

On top of its aluminum hull, 500-square-foot Big Time has the appearance of a boxy cabin from the outside, with a few embellishments like a patterned window beside the front door.

Inside, the living area cozies up around an electric, stone fireplace that gives the appearance of a wood-burning model, topped by a carved wooden mantle.

Behind the living room, the kitchen counters carve out space for cooking and dining.

The home’s one bedroom has a luxury not always available in a houseboat: a walk-in closet. A back door mirroring the front opens straight out onto the water.

The bathroom is full, even including a combination bathtub and shower lined by subway tile.

Up on the home’s roof, there’s space to stretch out and marvel at Lake Union.

This houseboat’s listed for $599,999; the lease on the slip is $875 per month, and allows long-term rentals, too.
