The weather is getting warmer and sunnier by the day, so it’s a great time to get outside and get moving. For those who don’t already have a preferred fitness activity or who want to try something new, classes are a great option—and if they get you outside, even better.

Unfortunately, starting up a new fitness hobby can be financially challenging. Good thing that it’s summertime, and Seattle’s parks and promenades are full of free fitness options for people looking for everything from some gentle movement and a more difficult workout.

Yoga classes are, of course, a popular option, but they’re not the only option. One park has spin classes; another even has Crossfit. Many are focused around the downtown core, making a free class or two an easy bus ride or detour away.

(More of a solo athlete? Seattle Parks and Recreation has installed adult fitness equipment at many Seattle parks.)
