If there's anything Seattle needs, it's more hotels. Actually, that may or may not be true, but, hey, there's always room for more rooms. Seattle is full of vintage, restored and simply old hotels full of character and charisma but there are a whole bunch of newbies on the horizon who want a piece of the tourism action, be it downtown, near Seattle Center, over in Ballard or even way out in Bellevue. Below, you'll find ten new and upcoming hotel projects worth keeping an eye on. Not all of them might come to fruition, but you can bet people are going to keep building hotels so long as their Seattle sights to see and Seattle tourists to see them.

Ten New & Upcoming Seattle-Area Hotels To Keep An Eye On

Hotel Ballard
Hotel Ballard opened its doors this past May and the 29-room hotel located in the heart of historic Ballard features high-level views of the Olympics, is connected to the Olympic Athletic Club and is the home to Stoneburner, the new restaurant from Bastille's executive chef.
Ninth & Stewart
The old Greyhound Terminal at Stewart & 8th Ave. will be no more once the 43-story, 1,550-room project "Ninth & Stewart" replaces it, becoming Seattle's largest hotel. The project is expected to cost $400-$500M with construction set to begin in March 2014 and the grand opening slated for 2017.
Fifth and Columbia
SLS Hotels, which runs upscale hotels in Beverly Hills and South Beach, is planning a luxury hotel from the 2nd to 15th floors in the 43-story tower. In all, it will encompass 184 rooms, 30,000 square feet of restaurants and clubs as well as 20,000 square feet of conference and event space.
Stadium Place Hilton Embassy Suites Hotel
a 23-story Hilton Embassy Suites Hotel will take over the eastern half of Stadium Place, a 1,500,000-square-foot, mixed-use project near Century Link Field in Pioneer Square. The hotel will be designed by Freiheit and Ho Architects and joins a a 10-story building and 25-story South Tower already in the works.
Hilton Garden In Denny Triangle
Touchstone Corp.'s Hill7 project will include an 11-story office building with 300K square feet of space as well as a 14-story Hilton Garden hotel. There will also be some retail space and underground parking. Construction is TBD.
Northgate Mall Hotel
Gramor Development Washington has plans to build a 174-room hotel just a few blocks south of Northgate Mall. Jensen Fey, the architects behind the Seattle Marriott Waterfront, is designing the hotel.
Hyatt House
Kauri Investments expects to start construction soon on Hyatt House, a hotel/apartment complex that the company's K Contracting will build on a triangular parcel now used for parking. The projects together will add about 175 housing units and 100 guest rooms just two blocks from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation headquarters.
Principal Financial Hotel
Principal Financial Group is evaluating the possibility of a 38-story residential and hotel tower near Pike Place Market. The project would be at the southwest corner of Second and Stewart.
Bellevue Collection Hotels
Kemper Development Co. has proposed 2M square feet of additions to The Bellevue Collection, including a 250-room luxury hotel and additional boutique hotel.
Stonebridge Hotel
Denver developer Stonebridge has filed plans to develop a 252-room hotel on the west side of Fifth Avenue, by Stewart Street. The project would include a small restaurant and bar, and three levels of underground parking.
