Earlier we reported on Seattle's #2 position in balancing jobs and rents, at least according to an Abodo study. According to them, the median rent for the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett area is $1,434. But, our area is diverse. Each place is unique. Seattle isn't Bellevue isn't Everett, which means $1,434 gets you something different in each place.

Many places are described as being "on the lake" when they really mean waterfront. Avana on the Lake is on it and over it. Get the right unit and the water is below you. $1,429+ gets you a one bed, one bath, 683 square foot apartment. Pets allowed. How about fish(ing?)

On Beacon Hill, find a one bed, one bath apartment with 575 square feet. Pets are allowed, and a patio is provided, which the pets may appreciate. The units are new, which hopefully means fewer maintanence issues, at least for a while.

Welcome to Belltown, where there's enough going on that you may not need more than a one bed, one bath apartment with 554 square feet. Ah, it is a flat. Very European, and very modern. Including electronic doors, car chargers; and under "Additional Features": heat.

Don't worry. Just because they call it Midlake Apartments doesn't mean you need a row boat. This one bed, one bath, 540 square foot apartment is in Wilburton, just on the east side of 405. Pets allowed and close to Bel-Red Road, handy in case you commute to Bel or Red.

Move a few blocks east to Foothill Commons and find yourself nearly across the street from the Glendale Country Club. The one bed, one bath units are a bit bigger, at 730 square feet. Pets are allowed. They may prefer wandering through Kelsey Creek Park to golfing.

Think in terms of updated retro because Palisades was built in 1969, but of course has been updated since then. These one bed, one bath units are also a bit bigger than the Seattle ones at 742 square feet. Pets? Yes. Dialing it back a few decades? A fine facade.

Don't be surprised if there's a Boeing inspiration behind the Aero Apartments. That's Everett, or was. Now, there's more; including floor space. A one bed, one bath apartment has 848 square feet, enough for another bedroom. Look out over Everett's harbor, if you get the right unit.

You get more in Everett, at least in places without a view. Two stories, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,100 square feet at Tessera Apartments.That's twice the size of the Seattle choices. You also get to be close to I-5 and Everett Mall, which will be just right for someone.

Back to views again, plus being relatively new, plus being the largest on the list. That combo is possible, evidently at Library Place, which has two bed, two bath units with 1,157 square feet of space. Only a few blocks from the water, which means being by the Navy base.
